Los Mapas

The purpose of this blog is to show examples of different maps and explain them in slight detail. Also, I will show a place that means a lot to me using Google Earth.

Isarithmic maps: also known as a contour maps show things such as elevation or precipitation in an area. The isarithmic map below shows the temperature ranges withing the state of North Carolina.

Chloropleth maps: show statistical information using different predetermined areas such as countries or states. The map below shows a percentage of people living in urban areas withing the United States.

Proportional Symbol: This map would show a symbol and make it proportional to a statistic for an area. The map below shows hispanic people throughout the United States. Notice that the circle is larger for the larger populated areas.

The map below is another example of a isarithmic map. It shows the annual precipitation for areas within Georgia. This one was made by me.

This picture below is a picture of where I grew. Yes it does say "Hog Liver RD." You can check my ID. Besides the terrible redneck name, this is a beautiful road to live on. The lake is one of the most relaxing places for me. When I have a ton on my mind, I usually go for a run and this is the path I like to take. It's about two miles and crossing the lake takes your mind completely off everything. The only thing I can think is "this is home" and "God really knew what he was doing and has a purpose for everything." I also put a marker on the elementary school I went to school when I was young.
